Wildlife Conservation and Natural Reserve Management
Wildlife Conservation and Natural Reserve Management is a national featured program in the category of forestry. With wildlife conservation and natural reserve management as double lines, it aims to cultivate innovative talents with solid theoretical foundation and multi-disciplinary knowledge who can fill various positions in wildlife conservation and utilization, wildlife domestication and breeding, natural reserve planning, design and management etc.
28% of the 2016 graduates have been recommended for Master’s or Doctoral degrees and 4 of them have been admitted to key universities in China, including 1 at the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1 at Ocean University of China, 1 at Beijing Normal University and 1 at Northeast Normal University.
Postgraduate Application and Overseas Study
22% of the 2016 graduates have applied for postgraduate degrees and 100% of them have been admitted to key universities listed on the national “985”and “211” projects, including 1 at Xiamen University and 1 at Northwest University.
The employment rate of the 2016 graduates has reached 96%.
Wildlife Conservation and Natural Reserve Management is an interdisciplinary program involving natural science, social science, economics and engineering planning and design. Wildlife conservation and natural reserve management is characterized by its being highly specialized, comprehensive and non-profit. It is a criterion for the national ecological civilization, the foundation of national sustainable development as well as the embodiment of the comprehensive national power. Students shall first finish the core courses such as Zoology, Animal Physiology, Taxonomy, Genetics, Ecology, Conservation Biology, Wildlife Management, and Science of Natural Reserve and then focus on one direction from the wildlife ecology and management, wildlife conservation and utilization, and natural reserve management. Domestically, Wildlife Conservation and Natural Reserve Management was first set up in NEFU and it has been a national outstanding agriculture and forestry featured program and has long topped the ranking in China. Wildlife Conservation and Natural Reserve Management is a featured program at NEFU. With four years of studies, students not only can understand and grasp the professional knowledge of Zoology, Botany, Ecology, Wildlife Management, Genetics, Molecular Biology, but also will be provided opportunities to have a close contact with nature and wildlife through diversified experimental classes and practice classes, including field practice. In addition, it is very necessary for students and very significant to hold various forms of non-profit activities annually to publicize to the public the concepts like wildlife conservation and the relation between protection and utilization.
