Giovanni Camino, Chief Professor of the Polytechnic University of Turin, Visits NEFU

On the morning of June 14th, President Li Bin met in the meeting room on the 7th floor of the Administrative Building with Mr. Giovanni Camino, a world-famous expert in the field of flame-retardants and Chief Professor of the Polytechnic University of Turin. The heads of the International Cooperation Department and the College of Science attended the meeting.

President Li Bin gave a welcome speech and briefly introduced the situation of personnel training, scientific research, international exchange and cooperation in our university. He also expressed his hope that Professor Giovanni Camino would further promote the in-depth cooperation between the two universities in scientific research and high-level talent training based on the existing cooperation.

Prof. Giovanni Camino said that the cooperation with NEFU has already had a good foundation. He hoped that in the future he would strengthen the cooperation in the fields of polymer combustion and flame retardants and other fields of common interests.

Prof. Giovanni Camino is a member of the Polymer Degradation Discussion Group Committee of the Royal Society of Chemistry (London), a member of the Academic Committee of the International Conference on Flame Retardant Materials, a convener of “Polymer Combustion” theme of the European Polymer Alliance, a member of Academic Committee for the international postdoctoral course Polymer Degradation and Stabilization, and the Vice Chairman of the Polymer Modification-Degradation-Stability (MoDeSt) International Organization. His research includes polymerization mechanism and kinetics, polymer degradation and stability mechanism, aging and recycling of polymer materials, polymer ignition behavior, application of nano-coating self-assembly in flame retardant polymer protection, the application of sol-gel nanostructure self-growth technology in the protection of polymer fires, and the thermal behavior of polymers and the characterization of their combustion behaviors. He focuses on the polymer combustion and flame retardant mechanisms, and has done a lot of groundbreaking work on the expansion and flame retardant mechanisms. He is a world-renowned expert and has a long-standing reputation in the field of flame retardants.
