In order to implement Xi Jinping’s thought of ecological civilization, realize the combination of education and teaching with ecological civilization practice, and stimulate the innovation and practical ability of students, the College Student Floral Design Invitational Competition, hosted by the Heilongjiang Flower Arrangement and Floral Art Research Association and organized by the NEFU College of Landscape Architecture, was held in NEFU’s new gymnasium on May 21. Teams from 15 universities across the country participated in this event, showing floral design and bringing a unique floral feast. The competition was hosted by Yang Yang, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Dean of the NEFU College of Landscape Architecture.

At the opening ceremony, Wang Jinghong, Dean of the NEFU College of Landscape Architecture, delivered an opening speech, expressing her heartfelt thanks to the staff and participants who supported and promoted the competition. Yang Hongxue, Vice Dean of the NEFU Undergraduate School, extended a warm welcome to the participating teachers and students from various universities and wished the competition a great success. At the same time, the organizing committee invited a number of judges with award-winning experience in floral competitions and outstanding achievements in the field of floral design to give professional comments to the participating teams.

The competition was divided into three parts: “Traditional Chinese Flower Arrangement”, “Fruit and Vegetable Arrangement” and “Modern Floral Art”, which not only inherited traditional culture, but also fully demonstrated the characteristics of modern culture. In the competition, the contestants demonstrated their professional abilities in various aspects such as artistic style, design, flower structure and color matching, and fully reproduced the beauty of nature, life and creativity.

To further promote the education on the theme of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era during the competition, party members from the College of Landscape Architecture also carried out research on floral art and the mental health of college students, in order to promote the innovative development of aesthetic education and mental health education for college students. The venue attracted many students to come and experience the charm of floral art.

After the competition, experts made comments on the works. The communication further enhanced the students’ floral art level and professional ability, and achieved the goal of “promoting teaching, learning, reform and construction through the competition”. Some of the entries are now on display in the lobby on the ground floor of the General Office Building.
