The Second Heilongjiang University Student Creative Design of Renewable Resources Competition closed on November 30. This competition included two groups-artistic design and creative design. The delegation from the College of Information and Computer Science Engineering won first prize and 2 excellent product prizes in artistic design, and 1 excellent product prize in innovative design.

This competition was held by the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of People’s Political Consultation, the Heilongjiang Ministry of Education and the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee Communist League of China, and was hosted by Northeast Agricultural University. Vice chairman of the Provincial Committee of the People’s Political Consultation of Heilongjiang, and vice president of NEFU, Zhaoyu Sen attended the award ceremony and took picture with delegation’s designs. The competition aimed to implement the central government’s new concept of development, and to guide students to actively participate in practical activities (e.g. scientific innovation of low-carbon lifestyle, design of creative inventions). It is of great significance for the further promotion of ecological civilization in Heilongjiang.

Contestants from the College of Information and Computer Science Engineering designed 4 works with their passionate preparation, and their combination of professional skills and innovative thinking. Among these 4 works, a 3D printed hollow electric guitar with won first prize in artistic design. This design utilized 3D printing technology to print the holy body of an electric guitar and assembled the body from an old guitar’s neck and strings, creating an innovative work with visual beauty. The guitar design not only eliminated a solid wood body, reducing production cost, but also interpreted the competition’s concept of low carbon environmental protection, and made full use of renewable recourses. In addition, the clock of blue and white porcelain, and the wall decoration of auspicious cloud and dragon, together with Research and Design of the Development Mode of Ecological Civilization with Application of Renewable Resources won excellent product awards in artistic design, and excellent product award in innovative design respectively.
