In the Morning of May 26th, the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education sent a panel to NEFU to conduct the acceptance check of theProgram of the Technology for the Remediation of Reserve Farmland and the Foundation of Molecular Breeding under Saline-alkali Stress by NEFU Innovative Team sponsored by the Ministry of Education. The panel reached a consensus that the program passed the acceptance check for the team attained the construction goal and met the requirements for the innovative team sponsored by the Ministry of Education.
The panel is headed by Prof. Li Yu, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; the members are Prof. Ma Jianzhang and Prof. Li Jian of NEFU, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Prof. Li Chunyang of Zhejiang A & F University and Li Yan, a researcher of the Xin Jiang Institute of Ecology and Geography of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
During the Acceptance Check Conference, Prof. Liu Shenkui, lead researcher of the innovative team delivered a keynote report that offered a detailed and comprehensive summary and illustration of the work fulfilled by the team throughout the construction process and elaborated on the orientation of its future development. Subsequently, the panel raised questions about the research direction, target orientation, construction of talent teams, research capacity and social contribution of the innovative team.
After discussion, the panel thought highly of the program conducted by the innovative team and approved the orientation of the team to meet the demands of national strategies such as the development of agriculture and husbandry, construction of ecological environment and reserve farmland. Meanwhile, the panel maintained that the research on the technology for stress biology and the remediation of saline-alkali soil possessed crucial scientific value and application prospects and acknowledged the sense of social responsibility and service awareness of the team reflected in offering advice and suggestions on the amelioration of saline-alkali soil over the whole country for the State Council and the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee.
