On July 20, the Vice Governor Jia Yumei came to NEFU to visit Academician Ma Jianzhang, and had a cordial talk with Ma Jianzhang and his team. She said that through the visit she had acquired a new understanding on NEFU.
In the afternoon, Jia Yumei first came to talk with Ma Jianzhang in the Room 402 of the College of Wildlife Resources. During the meeting, she informed that the provincial party committee had established a service system to experts by leading cadres. According to her, Academician Ma is one of the top experts in wildlife protection area, is a rare “trump card.” As his “liaison”, she is willing to listen to the views of Academician Ma and to help him solve the problems. “How is your health lately? Is there any problems in Work or life?” Those warm words narrowed the distance between the leadership and the expert. During the talk, Academician Ma proposed to build an ecological corridor so that the endangered wild tigers and leopards can freely travel between China and Russia. Jia Yumei promised she would actively reflect his proposal to the relevant leaders and departments and promote this work. In the end, Academician Ma gave Vice Governor Jia a book—A Research on Northeast Panther and Habitat of Chinaas a gift, which is written by one of his students Jiang Guangshun, a professor of NEFU and executive deputy director of Feline Research Center of Chinese State Forestry Administration.
After the talk, the Vice Governor Jia Yumei, accompanied by Party Secretary Zhang Zhikun and Chief Accountant Wu Haiquan, visited the fur specimen room founded by Ma Jianzhang and the Wild Animal and Plant Products Testing Center of Chinese State Forestry Administration. Professor Zhang Wei of Wildlife Resources College introduced the basic situation of the specimen room and the testing center. When she was told that the fur specimen room has more than 160 species and 1700 furs and serves as a rare practicing base for students, she gave a high praise and said: “NEFU leads an industry.” In addition, she greatly appreciated NEFU’s social service based on scientific research when she knew that NEFU was responsible for confiscated wild animal and plant products testing for customs. She said that since NEFU had so many rare animal specimens that a special science museum should be built, and she hoped that this precious treasure would waken more people’s consciousness to protect wild animals.
After the tour, Vice Governor Jia Yumei attended the symposium held at Room 332 of College of Wildlife Resources. Academician Ma Jianzhang, Party Secretary Zhang Zhikun, chief accountant Wu Haiquan, researchers of Ma Jianzhang’s team and some directors of functional departments attended the meeting.
At the symposium, Xiao Xianghong, secretary of the Party Committee of the Wildlife Resources College, introduced the basics of the college and its cultivation of a large number of special talents for the country. Professor Jiang Guangshun, the executive deputy director of Feline Research Center of Chinese State Forestry Administration and Professor Tian Xiuhua, the director of the Office of the China Wildlife Commission, respectively, brought forward opinions and suggestions on many issues as follows: development and management of wild animals in the transitional period of forestry, building Longjiang ecological brand, establishment of large data for wildlife monitoring, building animal breeding base and selection of ecological and high value-added forest breeding varieties.
Jia Yumei said that since the provincial government was in the stage of promoting the transformation of forest district, the views of the experts provided excellent ideas for the economic development of forest. She hoped that the experts could put these opinions and suggestions to form a special report to raise their views and suggestions for revitalizing Heilongjiang. She said she was willing to provide services for the expert team of NEFU so long as the experts could give full play to their talents and help the government to build a forestry economy.
Zhang Zhikun, Secretary of the Party Committee of NEFU, promised that NEFU would give full play to all aspects of the school think tank for the development of Heilongjiang province.
Liu Jialin, director of the fourth office of provincial government, and Yuan Qingyuan, secretary of governor also accompanied the Vice Governor Jia Yumei to NEFU.
