In order to help new students get to know, understand, and love NEFU, according to the “double new” education plan of the university, President Li Bin gave a lecture entitled “Remember NEFU History, Carry Forward NEFU Spirit, Be the Leader of a New Era” to all the 2020 undergraduates on the evening of November 3rd in the new gymnasium.
In the lecture, President Li Bin introduced the basic situations of our university, such as symbols, scale and influence from four aspects, the current status, the development history, the formation of our culture, and the beginning of the NEFU dream. The president described the development process of the university from the very beginning, when “the school was founded, it was difficult to start a business” to now “we focus on the connotative development and building a ‘double first-class’ university”. Also spoke he about “Spirit of Saihanba Dam”, “Spirit of Crane”, and “Spirit of Parrot Hill” as the symbol of NEFU culture, and shared the growth stories of alumni represented by Wan Gang, Yang Tingshuang, Shen Chengxin and so on. Finally, the President led the students to recite the motto “to stand on virtue and faith, to study hard and practice skills, to be innovative and courageous, and to be honest and trustworthy”, as well as “thought is the soul of growth, knowledge is fertile ground for growth, innovation is the driving force for growth, and honesty is the cornerstone of growth”, and encouraged the students to be trend-setters of the new era.
President Li Bin gave a vivid lecture on the theme of “Love the Party, Love the Country and Love Our University” with simple but emotive words, combined with rich data and pictures, and students couldn’t help applauding in the course of the lecture. Wang Xudong from the School of Civil Engineering said: “President Li Bin’s lecture made me know more about the history, culture and spiritual connotation of NEFU. We must try our best to be like President Li Bin expects us to be, firm in our ideals and beliefs, constantly improving our own skills, and become ideal, capable and responsible NEFUers of the new era.” Jiang Yushan from the College of Forestry said, “President Li Bin made me rediscover NEFU with her long history and deep roots. Among the many praiseworthy spiritual cultures, the one that impressed me the most was the “Spirit of Saihanba Dam”, the spirit of generations of NEFUers in the forest. As a student of forestry, I will also devote myself to the green water and green mountains of our country in the future.
