A few days ago, the awarding ceremony of the first “Longjiang Cup” Industrial Design Competition in Heilongjiang Province was held in Harbin. The NEFU’s team, which is mainly composed of students majoring in Industrial Design from the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, achieved gratifying results. The 2019 undergraduate Chen Zimo and 2018 undergraduate Hong Guizhi were awarded the title of “Top Ten Industrial Designers”. A total of 4 works designed by four teams won 2 silver awards and 2 bronze awards in the conceptual design group, which make NEFU be the most awarded university in Heilongjiang Province.

Since its launch in April 2021, the competition has attracted the attention of many related industrial design companies, universities and designers inside and outside the Heilongjiang province. The competition is of high standard, large scale and wide participation. A total of 740 works were collected, of which 560 were from the conceptual design group. The teams from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin Engineering University, Northeast Forestry University, Harbin University of Science and Technology, Heilongjiang University of Science and Technology and other universities competed together for 1 gold award, 3 silver awards and 10 bronze awards.

It is the first provincial industrial design competition held in Heilongjiang Province. It is hosted by Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology, supported by Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Education, Heilongjiang Provincial Department of Science and Technology, Heilongjiang Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, and the Communist Youth League Heilongjiang Provincial Committee, and co-organized by Heilongjiang Provincial Industrial Design Association, Heilongjiang Enterprise Confederation, Harbin Zhongguancun Base Incubator, and Heilongjiang Industrial Design Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance. The competition focuses on the “433” new industrial system, serves the strategy of “strengthening Heilongjiang by industry”, adheres to the concept of “promoting utilization through competition”, and requires the design of forward-looking works that meet the requirements of Heilongjiang’s economic and social development and consumption structure upgrading. Its categories of works cover high-end Equipment manufacturing, great health and medical care, smart products and daily necessities, products and packaging, and cultural and creative industries for tourism etc., which display the achievements of Heilongjiang industrial design industry.
