Recently, the award ceremony of 2022 “Rainbow Cup” Tianfu﹒Baodao Industrial Design Competition and the launch ceremony of Industrial Design Excellence Exhibition was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Selected by the faculty and students of the Department of Industrial Design from the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the project entitled “Wise Cattle Herd - Precise Feeding Traceability System” stood out among the 7,648 works from China, Germany, Britain, Finland and other countries, and won a gold medal. Additionally, the NEFU project entitled “Grape Picking” received an excellence award.

The competition was directed by Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, the Taiwan Affairs Office, the Department of Education, the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Human Resources and Social Security, and the Department of Culture and Tourism, etc. It was sponsored by the Sichuan Federation of Industrial Economics and Taiwan Federation of Industry, and co-organized by Xihua University, Chengdu Institute of Technology, among others. The competition also received technical support from Xiamen Red Dot Design Museum and other organizations.

The competition actively responded to the requirements of “Building a new system of high-quality and efficient service industry and promoting the deep integration of modern service industry with advanced manufacturing and modern agriculture” put forward by the 20th National Congress of the CPC. Centering on the needs of “5+1” industrial enterprises, the competition organized design experts to carry out activities of service-oriented manufacturing and industrial design into the city, state and industrial clusters, to promote high-quality development of local economy and society.

Since its launch in April 2022, the competition has attracted the attention and participation of many industrial design enterprises, universities and designers. The competition has a high standard and a strong degree of internationalization. A total of 7,648 entries have been collected from China, Germany, the UK, Finland, Japan, South Korea and other countries and regions. Finally, through the “online + offline” evaluation by 12 industry experts at home and abroad, 11 gold awards, 20 silver awards and 29 bronze awards were selected. Our excellent achievements not only highlight the university’s talent training and education, but also strengthen the confidence of accelerating the integration of production and education, serving the revitalization of rural areas, and further strengthening the professional management.
