On March 10th, the University of Auckland held a grand International Excellent Student Scholarship (TNE High Achiever) Award Ceremony, recognizing eight outstanding students from Northeast Forestry University (NEFU). These scholarships celebrate their exceptional academic achievements and will support the recipients in their future postgraduate studies at the University of Auckland.
As a leading comprehensive national university in New Zealand, the University of Auckland ranks 65th globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. Its Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering — among others — are highly regarded in the international research community. The awarded students are all top performers from the 2023 Ecology postgraduate program at Aulin College, NEFU’s joint international college. Their academic journey is based on Aulin College’s “3+2” undergraduate–master’s program, and the long-standing, in-depth partnership involving a “1.5 (domestic) + 1 (overseas) + 0.5 (domestic)” dual master’s degree, or a “1 (domestic) + 1 (overseas)” single master’s degree from the University of Auckland.
Over 50% of the first graduating class from NEFU’s Aulin College cooperative program have pursued further studies at the University of Auckland through inter-university partnerships. Additionally, several students have been recommended for admission to top domestic universities, such as Tsinghua University and Peking University. This demonstrates the initial goals of the cooperative program: high-level positioning, high-standard education, and high-quality student development.
Dr David Goldstone, Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland, along with the Head of International Affairs and the Student Services team, attended the ceremony. Dr. Goldstone expressed high praise for the awarded students, stating, “These students have demonstrated outstanding academic potential and adaptability.” Their success is not only a personal achievement but also a testament to the successful collaboration between the University of Auckland and Northeast Forestry University. We appreciate Northeast Forestry University’s hard work and dedication in nurturing these students, and we look forward to more outstanding students reaching the international stage through such cooperative programs in the future.”
A representative of the awarded students said, “This scholarship is not only a recognition of our past efforts, but also an encouragement for our future studies.” We are grateful to Northeast Forestry University for providing us with such a high-quality and internationally competitive platform. We will continue to work hard and meet the expectations of NEFU and our teachers.
