Recently, the National Science Library (CAS) released the 2025-2026 selection report for the Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD). The journal Bulletin of Botanical Research, hosted by Northeast Forestry University (NEFU), was selected as a source journal in the CSCD Core Database.

Following quantitative selection by the CSCD and expert evaluation, the CSCD includes 1,464 source journals for the 2025-2026 period, with 418 English-language journals and 1,046 Chinese-language journals. The CSCD source journals are divided into the Core Database (1,098 journals) and the Expanded Database (366 journals).

Since last year, the Bulletin of Botanical Research has focused on improving journal quality and building a high-level editorial team. To enhance the dissemination, influence, and contribution of scientific literature, the journal has adopted a strategy focused on organized publishing, digitization, internationalization, and sustainable development. A Youth Editorial Board of 40 members was formed, comprising 35% national high-level talents. The journal also launched a “Forward-Looking Perspectives” column, featuring articles from leading scholars, including Academicians Sun Hang, Xu Minggang, and Chen Shilin, as well as international experts such as Academicians Brent Clothier (Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chinese Government Friendship Award recipient), Paola Bonfante (Fellow of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, Academia Europaea), and Andrey Gontcharov (Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences). These scholars have published key perspective articles in the Bulletin of Botanical Research on significant scientific issues.

Bulletin of Botanical Research also published its first special issue titled “Mycorrhizal Ecophysiology in the Context of Biological Continuum Models,” which has drawn significant attention from experts. Recently, the journal’s special issue and perspective articles were featured in national media outlets, including Science and Technology Daily, with coverage on topics like “Research on Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Promoting Green Agricultural Development” and “Vegetation Management’s Impact on Water Sustainability.” The articles have been reprinted by major media outlets, including China Development Gateway (CnDG), Global Times Online, and Caijing.com.cn.

Additionally, the Bulletin of Botanical Research remains indexed by major international databases, including Scopus, EBSCO, and CA. It has also been recognized as a key journal by the National Forestry and Grassland Administration and selected for the “Top 100 Science and Technology Journals” in the China University Science and Technology Journal Construction Demonstration Case Database.

In terms of talent development, the editorial team has seen significant success. Dr. Hu Yanbo joined the editorial board of Chemical and Biological Technologies in Agriculture (CBTA) and received the “2025 Outstanding Editor Award” from Springer Nature. Dr. Sun Jingjue was honored with the “Outstanding Technical Editor” award at the 7th National Science and Technology Journal Young Editors Competition.

The inclusion of Bulletin of Botanical Research in the CSCD Core Database further confirms the journal’s academic quality, editorial standards, and influence in botany. Moving forward, the journal will continue to promote open and high-level academic exchange, contributing to the high-quality development of plant science in China.
