Recently, Clarivate, a globally authoritative information services provider, released the 2025 Highly Cited Researchers list. A total of 6,868 scientists from approximately 1,300 institutions worldwide were selected. This year, four scholars from Northeast Forestry University (NEFU)—Academician Li Jian, Professor Yu Haipeng, Professor Zhou Xuhui, and Professor Dou Shuo—were named to the list, all in the Cross-Field category. This marks a record high for NEFU. Over the past 11 years, their publications have ranked in the top 1% by citations in their respective fields, underscoring the significant international impact of their research. The achievement also underscores NEFU’s strong capacity to advance world-class discipline development, promote interdisciplinary integration, and address complex global challenges.

Clarivate’s selection of Highly Cited Researchers is based on citation data from the Web of Science and is widely recognized worldwide. The simultaneous inclusion of four NEFU scholars not only affirms their individual academic achievements but also reflects the University’s sustained efforts to advance the Double First-Class initiative, strengthen the development of a high-level talent pool, focus on international academic frontiers, and serve primary national strategic needs. Looking ahead, the University will fully implement the guiding principles of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, the Outline of the Plan for Building a Leading Education System (2024–2035), the spirit of the 14th CPC Congress of NEFU, and the Medium- and Long-Term Development Strategic Plan (2025–2035). NEFU will further reinforce the leading role of discipline development, intensify interdisciplinary integration and cross-disciplinary initiatives, continue advancing the development of high-level ESI disciplines, and support more scholars in conducting original and pioneering research, thereby contributing greater NEFU strength to the building of a strong education system, a strong science and technology nation, and a strong talent base.
