Recently, NEFU students achieved outstanding results in the national finals of the 28th China Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition (CRAIC) and the 9th China University Intelligent Robot Creative Competition. Four undergraduate teams coached by Wang Ye and Gu Zhixin from the School of Control and Information Engineering performed exceptionally well, earning three First Prizes and one Second Prize.

On July 25, the national finals of the 28th China Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition (CRAIC) officially began. The competition drew top teams from leading Chinese universities, including Tsinghua University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Xi’an Jiaotong University, making it highly competitive. The School of Control and Information Engineering sent two teams to compete in the Robot Task Challenge (All-Terrain Collaborative Robot) category. Competing against more than 1,000 participants from 276 universities nationwide, the two NEFU teams stood out, winning one National First Prize and one National Second Prize.
On August 19, the School of Control and Information Engineering sent two teams to the national finals of the 9th China University Intelligent Robot Creative Competition. Organized by the Organizing Committee of the China University Intelligent Robot Creative Competition and hosted by Ningbo University of Technology and the Robotics Institute of Zhejiang University, the competition featured three themed competitions, three special competitions, and six industry-education integration innovation competitions. It attracted 17,789 teams from 1,127 universities and more than 70,000 teachers and students nationwide. Strong teams from universities including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Zhejiang University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University also participated. After intense competition, the two NEFU teams won two National First Prizes.
Both the China Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Competition and the China University Intelligent Robot Creative Competition are included in the National Ranking of Discipline Competitions for General Higher Education Institutions. They are among the most influential undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship competitions in China’s robotics field. Over the years, the two competitions have attracted more than 500,000 students from over 1,000 universities nationwide, including undergraduates, junior college students, and graduate students. During preparation, participating students voluntarily gave up their holidays and stayed in the lab to tackle technical challenges. From project conceptualization and hardware assembly to mechanical structure optimization, software development, machine vision algorithm debugging, on-site failure prediction, and simulated competition defenses, the team carefully reviewed and repeatedly refined every stage. Faculty advisors followed the teams throughout the preparation process, organizing regular technical discussions, identifying weaknesses in project designs, and helping students optimize both hardware and software solutions. Faculty and students worked tirelessly to refine key technologies, including multi-robot collaborative control, path planning in complex terrain, and intelligent decision-making and task scheduling. Their efforts ultimately enabled them to demonstrate NEFU’s high standards and quality on the national competition stage.
These outstanding results not only demonstrate the strong innovation and practical capabilities of the School of Control and Information Engineering’s undergraduate students in robotics and artificial intelligence, but also enhance NEFU’s visibility and influence in national robotics competitions. These achievements have laid a solid foundation for the university to participate in higher-level competitions and pursue even greater success in the future.
