From October 17th to 18th, the 2026 Zhongda Environmental Law Forum was held in Shanghai. Professor Wang Hongwei of NEFU was awarded the honorary title of “2026 Zhongda Environmental Law Young Scholar.” Only two scholars nationwide receive this title each year, making it a highly recognized academic honor in the field of environmental law in China.

Professor Cai Shouqiu of Wuhan University, Director of the Judging Committee of the Zhongda Environmental Law Education Promotion Program, and Professor Li Nianzu presented the certificate of honor to Professor Wang Hongwei

This year’s forum was jointly hosted by Delta Greentech (China) CO., Ltd of Delta Electronics, Inc. and Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, and was organized by the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law School of Economic Law. Experts and scholars, representatives of young faculty and students, and judicial practitioners from more than 20 universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Wuhan University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, gathered in Shanghai for in-depth discussions on the theme “Implementation of the Ecological Environment Code.”

The environmental law team from the NEFU College of Humanities and Law was invited to attend the forum. Professor Wang Hongwei delivered an academic report titled “The Legal Attributes and Judicial Application of Ecological Environment Restoration Liability in the Context of Code Implementation.”

Since 2005, Delta Electronics, Inc. has continuously supported the development of environmental law disciplines at Chinese universities and has established the “Zhongda Environmental Law Scholars Program” and the “Zhongda Environmental Law Education Promotion Program,” which are highly influential academic talent cultivation programs in China’s environmental law community. The programs include two major academic awards: the “Zhongda Environmental Law Scholar Award,” which targets senior scholars and is granted to only one recipient each year, and the “Zhongda Environmental Law Young Scholar Award,” which targets young teaching and research leaders and is granted to two recipients each year, specifically recognizing teaching and research professionals who have produced innovative and outstanding research results in the field of environmental law. To date, only 13 scholars and 28 young scholars nationwide have received these honors, reflecting the awards’ high value and intense competition.

Professor Wang Hongwei won this honor, fully demonstrating the strong academic strength of the environmental law discipline at NEFU and marking authoritative recognition by China’s environmental law community of the school’s achievements in environmental law research, talent cultivation, and discipline development. NEFU will continue to leverage its disciplinary strengths as a forestry university and focus on major theoretical and practical issues in the rule of law for ecological civilization. It will keep tackling key problems and producing high-quality research results, striving to contribute professional strength and legal wisdom with agricultural and forestry characteristics to the national development of the rule of law in ecological and environmental protection.
