About the Speaker

Prof. David Lee Bourell, after obtaining his doctoral degree of material science and engineering from Stanford University, went to teach at the University of Texas at Austin in 1979. He is now a professor in the University of Texas at Austin, and a doctoral supervisor in the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of NEFU. He is also the head of the Austin Freeform Fabrication Laboratory, which is the first to launch and implement a Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) additive manufacturing technology.

Prof. David Lee Bourell has been the member in the US National Advisory Commission and the International Additive Manufacturing Commission. He has been awarded for his outstanding contributions to additive manufacturing. He was also granted the Japan Science and Technology Progress Award, and the honor of Outstanding Scientist by the TMS Materials Processing and Manufacturing Branch. Since 1990, as the internationally recognized leading expert, he has organized the annual International Symposium on Additive Manufacturing.
