Recently, the Heilongjiang Provincial Federation of Trade Unions held a party to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the provincial May Day Award presentation evening, commending the advanced individuals of“Provincial May Day Labor Medal” and advanced collectives of “Provincial May Day Labor Award” and “Provincial Pioneer Worker” in 2021. The first-class forestry team of our university was awarded the title of “Heilongjiang Pioneer Worker" and participated in the awarding party as an advanced collective, which was awarded to only three universities in the province. Professor Li Shujun, representative of our biomass materials research innovation team, who was awarded the “National Pioneer Worker” in 2020, attended the party as the guest of honor.
The first-class forestry team belongs to the “985 Advantageous Platform” discipline, the ESI top 1% discipline and the world first-class construction discipline, and is the most advantageous and characteristic teaching and research team of our university. The team is rooted in the state-owned forest areas of Northeast China and focuses on the selection and breeding of forest species, the cultivation and sustainable management of forest resources, the development and exploitation of forest economic resources, the structure and function of ecosystems, the prevention and control of forest disasters, and the restoration and reconstruction of degraded ecosystems, providing both the theoretical basis and applied technologies for the cultivation, protection and utilization of forest resources in Northeast China, and contributing to the cultivation of healthy, stable and sustainable forest ecosystems and improvement of the ecological environment.
The team has won 12 national scientific and technological progress awards, and as the only unit in the national education system was awarded the second national China Ecological Civilization Award. The team has brought together a number of leading talents such as academicians, Changjiang scholars and National Distinguished Young Scholars, and has trained more than 15,000 forestry science and technology talents for our country, and making outstanding contributions to the development of national forestry and the construction of ecological civilization.
