“We did something amazing, recording six shows for 21 hours straight, but feeling satisfied and fulfilled when we finished in the early hours of the morning.” Recently, 44 students of our university successfully performed in the China Media Group’s “Striving for a Positive Youth -- the May 4th Youth Day Special Program in 2021”. The program will be broadcast on CCTV-1 and CCTV-3 during prime time on May 4th. Teachers and students are welcome to pay attention to the wonderful performance of our students.

On April 17th, after receiving the invitation from the directors of the China Media Group, according to the unified arrangement of the university and the relevant requirements of the program, the Youth League Committee selected 44 student actors from the core of the College Student Art Troupe to participate in the rehearsal and recording of the program in Beijing. These students are not music performance majors, but after 13 days and nights of full preparation, they overcame various difficulties, such as uncoordinated dance movements, inadequate singing and insufficient emotional expression, etc, and finally excellently completed the performance of the 15 programs. From the beginning to the end, no one complained because of hunger or the lack of sleep, and no one flinched because of the intensity the rehearsals. They gained a deep understanding that “As long as we love our motherland deeply in our hearts, we will have a perfect state”. They perfectly showed that “Every teenager is a hero. ‘Difficulties’ are not in the dictionary of the youth”. They bore their mission of “A strong youth makes a strong country”.

Students with simple and pure quality and indomitable Donglin spirit won the praise and recognition by the director group, showing the spirit of Donglin youth and their attitude to forge ahead, regardless of challenges.

“From the nervousness and expectation at the moment I received the task to being accustomed to the everyday routine in Beijing, from the amazement when I walked into the No. 1 Studio for the first time to the familiar exchange of good mornings with the directors, from the unfamiliarity with the 44 participating students to accurately calling the names and nicknames of all the students,it is a great honor to be with you, in the repeated carving of each program, on such a delicate and grand stage, to appreciate the artistic charm, accept the spiritual baptism, and understand ‘struggle in youth’.” Xu Yiming, Part-time Deputy Secretary of the University League Committee and Gardening College Advisor, sighed with emotion.

This May 4th Youth Day special program is a grand youth event organized by the China Media Group under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the Ministry of Education and the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League. It is the highest stage to showcase the elegant demeanor of young people. This year is the first time that our university has been invited to participate in the May 4th Youth Day special program of China Media Group, which fully demonstrates the colorful youth of Donglin students in the new era. They are grateful to the Party and have the courage to move forward. Over the years, our university has attached great importance to students’ aesthetic education, mainly to improve students’ aesthetic ability and humanistic qualities. We steadily implement “Opinions on Comprehensively Strengthening and Improving Aesthetic Education in the New Age” issued by the general office of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, actively participate in high level art practice, and have won many prizes in college students’ art performance activities. We have created more than 20 works of literature and art conveying the Donglin spirit, such asHe Niang, a short play which was based on the touching deeds of martyr Xu Xiujuan and other outstanding alumni of our university, andQing Ting, a pas de deux. All these works play an important role in the aesthetic education aiming at “educating people, beautifying people and cultivating people”, and have achieved gratifying results.

The China Media Group’s “Striving for a Positive Youth -- the May 4th Youth Day Special Program in 2021” will be jointly broadcast on CCTV-1 and CCTV-3 during prime time on May 4. The 44 student actors of our university will appear together with many famous young artists, May 4th Youth Medal winners, outstanding youth representatives and more than 100 college and university students in the No.1 studio hall of China Media Group, singing for the youth of the new era.
