On Oct. 22-23, 2016, the Finals of the National BIM Application Competition of Secondary and Higher Colleges (The 9th BIM Calculation Competition & The 7th BIM Construction Management Sand Table and Software Application Competition) were held in Jilin Architecture University. Directed by Huang Guilin and Yu Jianqiang, professors of the NEFU College of Civil Engineering, two teams composed of Project Management majors who started in 2014 took part in the competition, and won seven awards.

This year, compared with the previous competitions, the competition format and content have major adjustments: Conventional Contest, Challenge Contest and All-around Contest are set for BIM Calculation Competition and Sand Table Competition, respectively. 562 teams from 516 colleges and universities nationwide participated in the competition. Our teams performed well in the competition, and won the Third Prize of the Conventional Contest, the Second Prize of the Challenge Contest, the Second Prize of the BIM Bidding Project Management Challenge Contest, the Second Prize of the All-around Contest in BIM Calculation Competition; the Third Prize of the Conventional Contest, the Second Prize of the BIM Bidding Project Management Challenge Contest, and the Second Prize of All-around Contest in BIM Construction Management Sand Table and Software Application Competition.

The Competition is sponsored by China Construction Education Association and co-sponsored by Glodon Software Limited, aiming to “promote the innovation in personnel training, improve the quality of talent training, quicken the construction of professional connotation, strengthen professional core competitiveness, set up the stage for students to present skills, and create a path to development and success”. The Office of Educational Administration, NEFU and the college leadership attach great importance to this event. In this competition, the excellent practical innovative ability and comprehensive quality of NEFU students were presented, and the students’ innovative consciousness and the spirit of cooperation were enhanced. This competition has provided a valuable experience to develop more excellent students with an innovative spirit and practical ability. At the same time the exchanges and cooperation between colleges and universities were strengthened, and the campus culture is enriched. The competition also plays a significant role in cultivating the rigorous scientific attitude and the spirit of teamwork within the students.
