According to the latest statistics of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI), USA in November, 2016, Agricultural Science and Chemistry disciplines at NEFU, ranked in the top 1% for the first time, with Agricultural Science ranked at No. 757 (out of 760) and Chemistry at No. 1141 (out of 1159). In the previously published ESI Discipline Rankings, having already ranked in the top 1% of ESI, the discipline of Plant & Animal Science of our university rose steadily from 812 up to 800 (out of 1120) this time. Currently, we have three disciplines ranked in the top 1% of ESI.
As the abbreviation of Essential Science Indicators, ESI is an analytical database established by Thomson Scientific by collecting and analyzing the academic literature indexed by ISI Web of Science (SCI) and the references cited in them, and is an authoritative analysis and evaluation tool to measure the scientific research performance and tracks the trends of scientific development. ESI collects more than 11,000 academic journals from all over the world and bases its rankings on the total citations of all the papers published by the research institutions to determine which of them can enter the global top 1%.
Ranking into the top 1% in ESI reflects the quality of research papers and the academic competitiveness of a research institution. From the statistics, in addition to the above-mentioned three NEFU “ESI Top 1%” disciplines, there are other three potential and hopeful disciplines: Material Science (91.17% probability), Engineering Science (61.49% probability), Biology and Biochemistry (48.87% probability).
We make the SCI source journals available at NEFU, which publish the papers of NEFU “ESI Top 1%” disciplines and Material Science, Engineering Science, Biology and Biochemistry disciplines, hoping the teachers of NEFU can use it as a reference to promote greater breakthroughs in the scientific research of NEFU.
