Recently, the Department of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Education has released the results of the Five-Year Regular Evaluation of the key laboratories of the Ministry of Education (Life Sciences). NEFU’s key laboratory of Forest Plant Ecology of the Ministry of Education passed the evaluation and was rated as good.
According to the revised Regulation of the Construction and Operation of the Key Laboratories of the Ministry of Education and the Rules for the Evaluation of the Key Laboratories of the Ministry of Education (revised in 2015), the Evaluation of the key laboratories of the Ministry of Education is conducted every five years in order to select the qualified laboratories and eliminate the unqualified ones. Before the Department of Science and Technology issued a formal document to launch the Evaluation in September, the Laboratory initiated the preparation at the end of July. NEFU’s leaders arranged and reviewed the Evaluation Scheme for many times and the faculty of the Laboratory spent the summer vacation preparing the materials for the Evaluation. Based on the suggestions of experts from the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Science, the Institute of Botany, Shenyang Institute of Applied Ecology, Nankai University and Fudan University, the materials for the rehearsal evaluation were completed. Subsequently, two rehearsal evaluations were conducted by NEFU’s experts and the materials for the Evaluation were finalized.
On 26th, September, the preliminary evaluation defense was held in Beijing. Professor Fu Yujie, director of the Laboratory made a statement about the work of the Laboratory for the five years, covering the representative achievements, research level, research team construction, discipline development and talent cultivation, opening and operation management of the Laboratory during the evaluation period from 2011 to 2015.The panel of the Evaluation maintained that our Laboratory was equipped with clear orientation, distinct regional features, profound academic history and outstanding accomplishments. In the preliminary evaluation, our Laboratory ranked 6thamong 20 laboratories of the three groups including agriculture, forestry and ecology.
On 12th, December, in accordance with the grades of the preliminary evaluation, site inspection and overall appraisal, the Department of Science and Technology publicized the results of the 2016 Evaluation of the Key Laboratories of the Ministry of Education: among 156 laboratories in the field of life sciences that participated in the Evaluation, 26 were rated as excellent; 116 as good and 14 failed to pass.
