In order to improve the assistance for teaching and research and the serving capacity for discipline construction, the library of NEFU launched a Report for Patent Analysis of Northeast Forestry University (1985-2016) this year. The report is divided into several aspects including preface, analysis on general situation of patent, conclusion, suggestion and so on. The domestic patent application data of Northeast Forestry University 1985-2016 was analyzed with statistics from seven aspects including the patent application trend, the type of patent, patent Cooperation application, inventor, technology field, the patent legal status and patent market. The 13 agricultural and forestry universities are selected as a comparison to get a comprehensive understanding of patent output.

1985-2016, the Chinese total patent applications of NEFU amounted to 2822 as the fifth among agriculture and forestry universities. The first patent of NEFU was raised in 1986.The name of Saw Wheel Surface of Spirally Wound Damping Material, utility model patent, was applied by the Mechanical Engineering Department of Northeast Forestry University and Xinyang woodworking machinery factory. The inventors were Wang Guoca,Yu Longmei,Hua jun and so on.

From1986 to 2001, the application for a patent of NEFU was less and the number of patent applications is not more than 5; since 2002, the patent applications have increased slowly. The number of application was nearly 100 in 2008, grew rapidly in 2010, and reached 459 in 2015.

Among the patents, invention patent applications account for 52%, utility model account for 35% and appearance design patents account for 13% of the total. In agricultural and forestry universities, invention patents of NEFU ranked tenth, utility model ranked first, and appearance design patents ranked second.

The NEFU and 61 institutions cooperated to apply the 33 patents, including cooperation with the other 17 universities and research institutions to apply for 38 patents and with 16 enterprises to apply for 25 patents

The inventors of NEFU are distributed in the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Forest Plant ecology, School of Materials Science and Engineering, and College of mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Most of inventors are collaboration groups, who have gained many patent results in national or provincial laboratories.

Our patent applications are mainly concerned about the chemical, operation and transportation, human life necessaries and physical field. More mature research field are mainly concentrated in the traditional forestry, plant breeding, biotechnology, wood composite materials and so on.

The average survival rate of the three kind patents in NEFU is 53.7%. The highest survival rate of the invention patent is62.3%, the survival rate of the utility model patent is 53.4%, and the survival rate of the design patent is 42.4%.

28 patents are transferred the patent transfer rights of NEFU, including 18 inventions and 10 utility models, which rank sixth in agriculture and forestry universities; There are 20 patent permissions , including 18 inventions and 2 utility models, which rank eleventh in agriculture and forestry universities; 1 patent pledge rank third in agricultural and forestry universities.
