Professor Zhao Min, the executive deputy director of the Under-Forestry Economy Coordinated Innovation Center, presented the “Report on the Application for Additional Degree Authorization Centers.” After discussion about the report, including the research direction, research content, personnel training program and curriculum setting, the participants agreed that our nation lacks personnel specialized in the development, management and innovation of the under-forestry economy. They fully support the establishment of the doctoral program of “Under-forestry Economy”.
With the rapid development of the Forestry Industry, the under-forestry economy has been increasingly emphasized. Our school has regarded the under-forestry economy as a key path of forest industry transformation by establishing the Under-Forestry Economy Coordinated Innovation Center in synergy with the Chinese Academy of Forestry, the Chinese Forestry Society, Northeast Agricultural University, the Heilongjiang Academy of Sciences, Jilin Agricultural University and Shenyang Agricultural University. The main aim is to improve the forestry industry. The resources of the under-forestry economy are important plants, including Berries, nuts, edible mushrooms, wild vegetables, medicinal plants, ornamental plants and wild animals. Considering the development of the forests, we are working to reform and innovate the system on the basis of development strategies, updated paths and production including breeding, planting, processing and preliminary working. There are eighteen innovative teams with over 200 experts. Since 2014, we have been working to establish the secondary doctoral program of “Under-forestry Economy”.
According to regulations of the Academic Degree Office of the State Council, we invited experts who are proficient in the breeding and protection of the economic resources, selection of superior provenance and deep processing, to discuss the establishment of this discipline. The doctoral program will be used to research the efficient breeding of animals and plants, utilization of edible mushrooms and the deep processing of under-forestry resources.
