Recently, results of the selection of models ofFive Hundredsheld by the Heilongjiang Provincial Civilization Office have been published. NEFU was awarded as aProvincial Volunteer Service Unit.
In 2016, under the leadership of the Party committee, the Youth League Committee of NEFU organized volunteer activities, built volunteer teams, cultivated volunteer service spirit, and gave full play to volunteer service functions, in order to meet the needs of national development, social progress and student growth. Until now, NEFU has 26 registered volunteer associations and 3451 registered student volunteers. Last year, over 500 activities were organized such as ecological and environmental protection, service for the elderly, support education, care for vulnerable groups, and emergency volunteer service. Those activities have made great contributions to the innovation of social governance and the livelihood needs of the people. Furthermore, these activities have not only gained the high evaluation from the service objects and good social response, but a good demonstration effect and social influence.
In 2016, volunteers from our university played an active part in many large-scale events in the province such as: “Warm Winter Action”,a volunteer service organized by theCentralCommitteeoftheCommunistYouthLeague; a month-long volunteer service at Harbin Taiping International Airport with 122 volunteers from NEFU; the 2016 International Snow League Youth Championship with 12 NEFU volunteers; “Constant Love” , a female college students social practice of Heilongjiang Province with 67 NEFU volunteers; The fourth China International New Materials Industry Expo of 27th Harbin International Economic and Trade Fair with 90 NEFU volunteers; and the first Harbin International Marathon with 126 NEFU volunteers. In the third Chinese volunteer service contest, 2 projects of NEFU volunteer groups — “Blooming Miao Rural Mountains” of postgraduate student volunteer assistance group and“Warm the Classroom, Light the City Venus” of Venus Volunteers Association both won a silver medal.
