Academician Ma Jianzhang and Li Jian were appointedasgeneral consultantsfor theChina Forestry Encyclopediaon June1, 2017.
China Forestry Encyclopediais the project of national encyclopedia compilation and publication (2013-2015). Consistingof a total of 22 volumes, includingcomprehensive volumes, forestry policy and regulations volumes, forestry basic science volumes,andforest ecological volumes, etc., the encyclopedia is scheduled to besuccessivelypublished in 2019. Zhang Shougong, dean of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, and experts from universities and research instituteswillbe the editors of each volume. The two academicians of NEFU are general consultants forthewildlife preservation and utilization volume andtheforest cultivation volume and so on.
In the appointment ceremony,Zhang Shougong, dean oftheChina Forestry Encyclopedia &Chinese Academy of Forestry, and editor of forest cultivation volume, on behalf of theState Forestry Administration and compilationboard conferredaletter of appointmentto academiciansMa Jianzhang and Li Jian.
Li Bin, president and deputy secretary of Party Committeeof NEFU, Luo Wenghu, director of university office, Zhang Minghai, dean of the College of Wildlife Resources, and Wang Jiahui, deputy general-secretary ofChina Forestry Encyclopediaand deputy editor-in-chief of China Forestry Publishing House attended the ceremony in room 808, Administration Building. The ceremony was hosted by Wang Jiahui.
President Li Bin on behalf the university welcomed the visitors and expressed NEFU ’s gratitude forthesupportsgiven bytheChinese Academy of Forestry and China Forestry Publishing House over the years. Li Bin saidthat theChina Forestry Encyclopediawouldrecord China’sachievementsof forest research and management experienceover thedecades, which will beembodiedin the history of China's forestry development. The appointment of the two academicians from NFEU isin recognitionof their long and outstanding contributions to forestry, andisthe glory for NEFU. NEFU is willing to contribute to the compilation ofChina ForestryEncyclopedia.
Academician Ma Jianzhang saidthatforestry only accounted for one volume in the previously published encyclopedia on agriculture, buttheChina ForestryEncyclopediawill be a comprehensive summary of the accomplishments of forestry, which will become important evidences for future research, teaching, production, and management. He saidthis vast work, which involvesthe participation ofmany young scientists to participate, will make this encyclopedia resourceful and valuable. He wished theChina ForestryEncyclopediawould be published as soon as possible.
Academician Li Jian saidthe compilation is a dedicatedand arduous project. It reflects theachievementsof leaders and researchers in forestryoverdecades, which has a profound influence on the future development of forestry. The Chinese Academy of Forestry undertakes the top design and complex organization of this work ,andthe resultshaveobtained unanimous approval. He said, “we should confidently work together to makeChina ForestryEncyclopediaa permanent masterpiece.”
