On the afternoon of June 15th, Tatyana Terenteva, the president of Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service, Tatyana Varkulevich, the dean of the Department of Management, and Wang Bing, the deputy director of the Foreign Affairs and Cultural Activity Office visited NEFU and negotiated for further cooperation.

President Li Bin extended his warm welcome to the guests, and introduced the members presented in the symposium as well as the basic information of operations, discipline setting, and international cooperation. President Li said that the two universities had signed a contract on undergraduate talent training in 2002, which symbolized a new beginning of the cooperation between the two universities, and the two universities hosted exchange visits many times. However, for some special reasons, the cooperation program was terminated in 2013. He hoped to take this opportunity of President Tatyana Terenteva’s visit to further deepen the cooperation and friendship of the two universities.

President Tatyana Terenteva showed her appreciation for the warm reception of our university. She introduced that VSUES is a university devoted to economics and service, and includes three kindergartens, a primary school, a middle school, a technical secondary school and a university. It is ranked in the Top 100 Universities by the Russian Ministry of Education, with more than 400 international students, most of whom are from China. President Tatyana Terenteva expressed her great expectation for this exchange visit, and hoped to have a new breakthrough in the cooperation of undergraduate education and scientific research.

In the symposium, the two sides reached an agreement on three aspects: 1. Propelling the “2+2” double-degree program for undergraduates. The Russian major students study in NEFU for the first two years, and then go to VSUES to study economics and management to obtain both a bachelor’s degree in Russian from NEFU and a bachelor’s degree of economics and management from VSUES; 2. Propelling the academic research exchange and cooperation for the economics management teachers of both universities, and establish the Research Center of Far East Economic Strategies so as to cultivate professionals of a high level; 3. Propelling the self-funded program for Russian majors to study in VSUES for one year. Both sides agreed to engage in the “2+2” double-degree program curriculum design and connection immediately, and boost the scientific research exchanges for scholars from the two universities.
