Recently, the editorial office of theJournal of Forestry Research (English Edition)held their 8th editorial board meeting. 32 editorial board members and special guests from 10 countries attended the meeting, among which 15 members came from foreign countries. During the meeting, 15 people were chosen as excellent subject editors. Ronald Ayling (Canada) and 6 others were added to the editorial board.
Since theJournal of Forestry Research (English Edition)was included in the SCI database in 2013, its international influence has been continuously improving. In 2016, the impact factor was 0.774, and its academic rank was 42/64.
During this editorial board meeting, Professor Yang Chuanping, editor in chief of theJournal of Forestry Research (English Edition)gave a welcome speech, reviewed the development of the journal over the past three years, and looked forward to the future of both the editorial board and the journal. The director and deputy editor of Ecology Society of China Liu Shirong congratulated the recent achievements, suggested further cooperation of the Ecology Society of China and theJournal of Forestry Research (English Edition), and strived to make the journal a representative international academic journal in the field of Chinese forestry. Clarivate Analytics, on behalf of Mr. Du Yaowen, made a report on the international impact assessment and development proposals of theJournal of Forestry Research (English Edition). Professor Chai Ruihai, a deputy editor in chief, made a report on the history, current situation and development direction of the journal, focusing on the development strategy and specific measures over the next three years. Mr. Thomas D. Dahmer, the guest editor in chief, made a report on how to improve the academic quality of periodicals. Hu Yanbo and Yu Lei, the editors of the journal, respectively introduced the JFR online platform (Website, SpringerLink, and Editorial Manager), manuscript checking software (Cross Check) and their usage methods and some do’s and don’ts.
