On September 28, the College of Life Sciences of NEFU donated 217 books of 54 varieties, with the value of over 6000 yuan to Hongcheng village, Tailai county, the target impoverished county of NEFU.
It is reported that among all the donated books, there are not only pragmatic books likeCultivation Techniques for Fostering Superb Quality and High Yield Pear Trees in Cold Region,Innovative Production Pattern for Black Fungus Grown in Field in the North,andBreeding Methods for Commercial Livestock, but classic ones such asThree Character PrimerandOne Thousand Character Primer. Zhang Ming, secretary of the CPC committee of the College of Life Sciences, said that those books are excellent examples published by NEFU press and due to the fact that offering help to Tailai county means not merely giving aid for them to get rid of poverty, but also providing support to broaden their horizon so it is expected that these books can expand their vision and help them to find the gateway for prosperity.
Zhang Shuku, secretary of CPC branch of Hongcheng village stated that those books are the “treasure for pursuing prosperity” and confirmed that the village would require its villagers to read these books carefully in order to improve their quality.
It is reported that the CPC committee of the College of Life Sciences and the CPC branch of Hongcheng village have reached an agreement on “joint development” since the beginning of this year. Experts of the College of Life Sciences frequently go to the village to give field guidance. In addition, the “Scientific and Technical Work Station for Poverty Relief” has been established with the target of implementing the characteristic economic agricultural plantation programs for income increment, benefiting 51 households in impoverishment.
