On the afternoon of October 27, a first-class discipline construction meeting was held in Room 808 of the Comprehensive Building. The President and Deputy Party Secretary Lin Bin, Deputy Party Secretary Wang Yuqi, and directors from the Materials Science and Engineering College, the Forestry College and relevant departments of university attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by President Li Bin.
President Li Bin pointed out that the announcement of the list of "Double Top” universities and disciplines indicated that the construction of "Double Top" has entered the operation stage. As a university with first-class disciplines, we should seize the opportunity to focus on the construction of forestry engineering and forest science disciplines. Leading units of the two first-class disciplinary groups should study how to effectively implement the first-class disciplinary construction based onBuilding First-rate Disciplines in Northeast Forestry University. Functional departments should provide sufficient support and service to the lead units to work together to promote the construction.
President Li Bin gave a systematic exposition of the "Double Top” construction of our university from six aspects, including first-rate teaching staff, first-rate personnel training, first-rate research output, international exchange and cooperation, strengthening party leadership over the university, and equipment, making clear the direction of construction for the two first-class disciplines.
Deputy Secretary Wang Yuqi made a speech on the construction of first-class disciplines. He pointed out that it was necessary to study the spirit of the 19thNational Congress, especially to read the contents related to the first-rate discipline construction. We should strengthen the talent construction with a core of academic leaders, and take the first-class disciplinary construction as a chance to promote the overall development of the university.
Building World-class universities and first-class disciplines is a strategic decision made by the Central Committee and State Council. On September 21, 2017, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission announced 42 world-class universities and 95 first-class disciplines inThe List of First-class Universities and First-class Disciplines in China.Forestry engineering and forestry disciplines were selected as first-class disciplines and NEFU was among the selected first-class discipline construction universities.
