From April 8th to 10th, the 8th "World Women University Presidents Forum" was held in Wuhan University. More than 150 female university presidents, female party secretaries, experts and scholars from UNESCO and 51 countries and regions of the world attended this conference. During the three-day period, according to the theme of “Future Education • New Leadership• Community with Shared Future for Humanity,” the participating experts explored the vision of higher education in the information age, continued their concern for the development of women, and devoted themselves to the discussion of new leadership. The vice secretary of the party committee of NEFU Chen Wenhui made a keynote speech on “Adapting to the Requirements of Digital Age and Promoting the Cultivation of New Talents” at the sub-forum.
The World Women University Presidents Forum was initiated in August, 2001 by the Communication University of China. It hosts main forums in China every two to three years, and holds sub-forums around the world during the interval. The forum has continued for 17 years and brought together more than 1,100 female presidents from more than 100 countries and regions. This forum was hosted by Wuhan University, Communication University of China, and the Research Institute of Modern Women Leadership.
In the forum, guests from all participating countries conducted thorough discussions and communications through the forms of sub-forums, round tables, symposiums, salons, etc.
Former state councilor, vice chairman of the Eleventh NPC Standing Committee, president of the Tenth All-China Women's Federation, honorary president of the council of Research Institute of Modern Women Leadership Chen Zhili, the vice chairman of the Twelfth CPPCC national committee Lin Wenyi, former UNESCO director-general Irina Bokova, the chairman of the association of European University Female Presidents Gulson Salamo, attended the forum and delivered the speeches.
