Recently, Wang Fawu, a Chair Professor of the UNESCO Chair for the Geo-environmental Disaster Reduction Project, awarded the certificate of the International Collaborative Organization to the Cold Regions Science and Engineering Research Institute of NEFU.
The UNITWIN/UNESCO Chair project was formally established in 1992 on the basis of the 26th UNESCO General Conference resolution. The project aims to promote higher education in research, training, and curriculum by establishing a network between universities and encouraging cooperation among colleges and universities, as well as enhance the educational and research capabilities of international universities and research institutions.
At present, the project has a total of 170 chairs in the field of natural sciences. As one of the chairs for geo-environmental disasters, the UNESCO-Chair for the Geo-environmental Disaster Reduction Project is committed to advancing education and scientific research cooperation in the field of geo-environmental disaster reduction around the world.
