According to the database updated by the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) on May 11th, the Materials Science Discipline of NEFU entered the top 1% of ESI globally for the first time, becoming the fourth discipline to enter the top 1% after Botany and Zoology, and Chemistry Discipline in NEFU. This marks a breakthrough in the establishment of high-level disciplines in the materials science discipline of our university.
ESI is a basic scientific indicator and analytical database established by Thomson Scientific Information Group based on the collection and analysis of academic literature and references cited by ISI Web of Science (SCI). It is an authoritative analysis and evaluation tool for measuring scientific research performance and tracking scientific development trends. ESI collects more than 11,000 academic journals worldwide and ranks the top 1% of global research institutions based on the total number of citations published by various agencies. Entering the top 1% of ESI reflects the quality and academic competitiveness of a research institution.
The ESI data covers the period from January 1, 2008 to May 11, 2018. There are 797 institutions in the global materials science discipline entering the top 1% of ESI, and NEFU ranks 773rd. NEFU has published 678 SCI journal papers in this field and was cited 5,479 times with 8.08 references.
In addition, the latest rankings of the three disciplines of botany and zoology, chemistry, and agricultural science in NEFU are 779/1148, 1020 /1163, and 583/ 768.
There are 21 ESI Highly Cited Papers by NEFU according to the database, of which 2 papers are also “Hot Papers.” Among them, 14 papers were published by the Materials Science and Engineering College (1 cooperating with the postdoctoral station, 2 participating), 2 by the School of Forestry (1 published by the State Key Laboratory of Tree Genetics and Breeding, 1 participating), 1 by the key Laboratory of the Ministry of Education of Forest Plant Ecology, 1 by the Wildlife Resources College, 1 by the Landscape Architecture College, 1 by the College of Life Sciences (participating), and 1 by the Center for Biological Resources and Environment of Saline Land (participating).
