On the afternoon of May 24th, the delegation of 4 from Aston University headed by Frank Austermühl, the Associate Dean of the School of Languages and Social Sciences visited the College of Foreign Languages to discuss cooperative programs.

Wang Dan, the Dean of the College of Foreign Languages introduced the College of Foreign Languages to the delegation, especially the basic information about undergraduate cultivation programs, academic research as well as international collaboration. Professor Zhao Li introduced the current situation of postgraduate cultivation programs. The delegates of Aston University introduced the School of Languages and Social Sciences and the Department of Language and Translation Studies of Aston University. Subsequently, both sides had an in-depth exchange of views on a variety of issues including faculty exchanges, short-term exchanges for undergraduates and “1+1” postgraduate cultivation programs and reached preliminary consensus on cooperation.

Wang Dan, the Dean of the College of Foreign Languages, Qu Fayi, the Associate Dean of the Graduate School, Dong Hui, the Associate Dean of the College of Foreign Languages, Zhao Li, the Head of English Department and Yan Lin from the Office of Academic Affairs were present at the meeting. The entourage of Associate Dean Frank Austermühl included Manns Steven, the Head of the Department of Language and Translation Studies, the School of Languages and Social Sciences, Aston University and two directors of NEFU programs of Australia Education Management Group (AEMG).

On the morning of May 25th, Frank Austermühl delivered an academic report for MTI supervisors, MTI students and undergraduates of English major in the Conference Room 1210, Wenbo Building. In the academic report, Professor Frank Austermühl focused on the introduction to the application of translation technologies and strategies to perfect the performance of translators. In the subsequent Q&A section, Professor Frank Austermühl gave detailed answers to the questions about artificial intelligence translation.
