In accordance with the essence of the Notification on the Construction of National Experimental Teaching Projects of Virtual Simulation by Ministry of Education (No.5, Letter of Institutions of Higher Education, Ministry of Education), coupled with expert review, the total of 105 National Experimental Teaching Projects of Virtual Simulation were accredited by Ministry of Education. 6 projects applied by 5 institutions of higher learning in Heilongjiang province were included and “The Experimental Project of Virtual Simulation for Cell Scale Production and Product Analysis”by the College of Life Science of NEFU was accredited.

The project is developed by the teaching team constituted by Prof. Li Yuhua, Prof. Teng Chunbo, Prof. Song Xingshun and Senior Experimenter Qi Fenghui who integrate the plant cell scale cultivation, the extraction of secondary metabolites of cultivation products, the quality testing of secondary metabolites and the testing of the tissue of key enzyme of synthesis into virtual “factory” teaching system via 3D simulation technology, encouraging students to gain a good command of the skills in factory production in virtual situations, overcoming the problem of industrialized learning, which is “easy to observe but difficult to manipulate”, expanding the scope and depth of experimental teaching, extending the time and space of experimental teaching and enhancing the quality and standard of experimental teaching. This experimental project is accessible to the institutions of higher learning nationwide and the society for free and provides teaching service.

From 2017 to 2020, Ministry of Education plans to accredit national experimental teaching projects of virtual simulation according to the year of construction planning and adopt the mode of construction and application first, subsequent evaluation and accreditation and constant survey and evaluation. NEFU will , based on the situation of experimental teaching, further improve the cultivation of experimental teaching teams, boost the capacity to transform traditional experimental teaching projects by means of information technology, deepen the combination of information technology with education and teaching as well as promote the construction of experimental teaching projects of virtual simulation.
