Recently, Guo Xinwei, a 2015 English major from the College of Foreign Languages applied for, and obtained the internship offer for the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) program. This is the first time that our student earned an internship position in an international organization, which is of certain significance for enhancing China's international influence and improving the right to speak internationally.
In order to implement the relevant requirements of the Ministry of Education on encouraging and supporting college students to internships in international organizations, NEFU established the揘ortheast Forestry University Student International Organization Development Association? in June of 2018. Considering the characteristics of students in the College of Foreign Languages, the association focuses on improving students’ professional skills and language competence and strengthening the ability to communicate and cooperate with international organizations, and actively builds a platform for students to participate in the programs.
Guo Xinwei, English major, is the monitor of Class 3, Grade 2015 in the College of Foreign Languages. He has achieved outstanding results during his school years and has received many honors. He has obtained the qualification to study in Beijing Foreign Studies University for his master's degree. During his participation in the NEFU International Organization Development Association, he expressed his strong interest in international organization internship projects, and he is committed to serving international organizations and participating in international affairs. Through his continuous efforts, he was selected through several layers of screening. In the end, he obtained the project intern offer of the United Nations Volunteers (UNV).
In the future, NEFU will further promote the participation of students in international organizations' internships and service programs. Through extensive visits and in-depth research, we will establish relevant safeguard measures and incentive mechanisms to meet the actual situation of our students so as to encourage them to participate in projects. We will also formulate practical solutions and policies to promote the rapid and steady development of the work.
