From October 12 to October 14, entrusted by the China Engineering Education Accreditation Association (CEEAA), an expert panel headed by Prof. Xia Shuqian of Tianjin University came to NEFU to conduct an on-site inspection of the chemical engineering and technology major for engineering education accreditation. The panel also included Prof. Wen Herui of Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, Deputy Chief Engineer Chen Keming of Donghua Engineering Technology Co., and Prof. Zhao Jia of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology.

On the morning of October 12, presided over by An Yong, director of Teaching Research and Quality Control Center, a meeting on the accreditation of chemical engineering and technology major was held in the Conference Room 808 of the Administration Building. Prof. Song Wenlong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President, heads of relevant departments, the leadership team of the College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Resource Utilization and relevant teachers attended the meeting.

Vice President Song Wenlong welcomed the expert panel at the meeting, and introduced the basic situation of NEFU, highlighting the series of measures carried out by our university in undergraduate teaching reform and other aspects, as well as the impact and effectiveness brought by this. He also said that NEFU attaches great importance to the accreditation work. In addition, at NEFU we implement the OBE educational concept throughout the university, explore the reform of the student-centered training model, and build up a scientific curriculum system so as to make continuous improvement in talent training. He hoped that the expert panel would give more valuable advice and suggestions during this inspection. At the same time, NEFU would also be led by the concept of accreditation to further promote the undergraduate education, and effectively improve the level of professional construction and quality of talent training.

Prof. Chen Ligang, the Deputy Dean of the College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Resource Utilization, reported on the construction of engineering education for the chemical engineering and technology major from four aspects: professional profile, student-based education, output-oriented education system and quality concept of continuous improvement. Experts asked relevant questions about the self-assessment report, and the participants made adequate answers and exchanged opinions with experts.

During the inspection, the panel made on-site visit to the China (Harbin) Forest Museum, the Engineering Teaching and Practice Center, the Basic Course Laboratory, the Chemical Pilot Workshop and other sites, and checked the teaching management documents, examination papers, practice logs and reports, experimental reports, and graduation thesis and other archival materials. In addition, the panel also interviewed management personnel, teacher representatives, and employer representatives, and held discussions with representatives of alumni and students to gain insights into professional construction and talent training.

At the expert opinion feedback meeting held on the morning of October 14, Prof. Xia Shuqian gave full affirmation to the accreditation of engineering education of chemical engineering and technology major. She said that NEFU attaches great importance to engineering education accreditation, actively promotes education and teaching reform, and continues to increase professional improvement efforts, and has achieved good results. The expert panel put forward valuable opinions and suggestions on the curriculum setting, student evaluation system, student innovation ability and environmental awareness, teacher engineering ability training and laboratory construction of chemical engineering and technology.

Prof. Fu Yujie, Dean of the College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Resource Utilization, said at the meeting that the major will take the opinions and suggestions of the panel, follow the professional education accreditation concept, and combine the advantages of our university to further promote student-centered talent training reform and strengthen the construction of professional connotation.

Vice President Song Wenlong spoke at the feedback meeting, expressing his gratitude to the expert panel for their careful work and the guidance they provided. He said that the university will further improve the institutional support, scientifically formulate plans, earnestly implement rectification and reform, and fully support the development of chemical engineering and technology. The university will take this accreditation as an opportunity to further strengthen student-centered education, implement the construction standards of engineering majors, continue to promote the accreditation of engineering education, and comprehensively improve the quality of talent training.
