On October 17, 2020, our university held the Second “Donglin Cup” Poverty Alleviation Workshop Hand Weaving Contest together with The Party committee and the government of Tailai County in The New Era Civilization Practice Center of Tailai County.

Sixty contestants from the poverty alleviation workshop in Tailai County took part in the contest. Some of them are those who have been out of poverty, some are disabled and some are living on subsistence allowances. They kept threading and crocheting, with their skillful hands flying up and down. By using different weaving techniques, they wove their threads into many straight or winding lines, forming pieces of beautiful works. After 18 minutes and 52 seconds, the first contestant finished his work .

“I won the first prize in today’s contest. From now on I will continue to weave a better life with my industrious hands.” Zhang Yanbo, who came from Shuangshan Village, Pingyang Town of Tailai County, said.

After 20 minutes of intense competition, the hand weaving contest came to a close. In this contest, 10 winners were awarded the first prize, 20 winners were awarded the second prize and 30 winners were awarded the memorial prize. The leaders presented prizes to the winners. The contest fully demonstrates the skills of the poverty alleviation workshop and the good demeanor of the contestants in the competition. It promotes the enthusiasm of all the staff to study hard and continuously improve their skills. In the future, we will continue to make use of the leading enterprises to develop and build the poverty alleviation workshops, expand the function of the poverty alleviation workshops, and make a happy home for the people.

On the occasion of the 7th Poverty Alleviation Day in China, the university once again held this hand weaving contest together with Tailai County, which fully displays our achievements in poverty alleviation and income increase by jointly establishing the poverty alleviation workshop with Tailai County. Through the contest we share our innovation in poverty alleviation while gathering strength, creating an atmosphere, and boosting morale for the decisive battle against poverty in the final year.

In conjunction with the weaving contest, a photo exhibition titled “Poverty Alleviation Review” was held in Tailai County. This activity with the theme “10·17—We invite you together”, further propagates the concept of “not relying on others，following the Party and getting rid of poverty and getting rich through hard work”. The guide led all the staff to visit the photo exhibition of the achievements of poverty alleviation in Tailai County. The exhibition board recorded the journey of poverty alleviation in Tailai County, as well as every footprint on the road to well-off life in Tailai County.

“Today, I feel happy and excited about the achievements of our county in poverty alleviation through watching the exhibition boards, which will become the driving force for our future work. We will continue to move forward and lead our team and the poor to a better new life,” said Li Yanwen, head of the poverty alleviation workshop in Jiangqiao Town, Tailai County.
