The 5th China Computer Federation Bioinformatics Conference was held in Harbin, Heilongjiang province from October 16 to 18. The conference was hosted by the China Computer Federation (CCF) and co-organized by the CCF Bioinformatics Committee and Northeast Forestry University.
The CCF Bioinformatics Conference aims to provide an academic exchange platform for experts and scholars engaged in bioinformatics research and promote academic exchange and research cooperation in the field of bioinformatics in China. There were altogether 2 groups of main conference room reports and 6 component conference room reports, among which 7 were specially invited reports and 21 were invited reports. 57 papers were presented in the conference, and 2 were selected as excellent papers. The conference adopted a combination of online and offline mode, and the whole process was simultaneously broadcast on the Internet, attracting more than 600 experts and scholars in the field of bioinformatics from nearly 100 universities and colleges across the country to register for the conference. During the conference, more than 40,000 people watched the live broadcast on the Internet.
On the evening of 16th, the CCF Bioinformatics Committee held the 2020 special Committee meeting. In the meeting, 15 additional members (including 1 member from The School of Information and Computer Engineering, Northeast Forestry University), and 20 communication members were elected. The members voted to decide that the sixth CCF Bioinformatics Conference will be undertaken by Shandong University (Qingdao Campus).
The meeting officially opened on the morning of October 17th. Prof. Wang Guohua, Dean of The School of Information and Computer Engineering, NEFU, introduced the conference and the guests. Prof. Li Shunlong, Chairman of the Conference and Vice President of NEFU, Prof. Wang Jianxin of Central South University, Director of CCF Bioinformatics Committee, and Gu Qingyi, member of CCF Bioinformatics Committee and researcher of the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave speeches respectively, wishing the conference a complete success. Pan Jianping, Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology of NEFU, also attended the opening ceremony of the conference and expressed his best wishes to the conference.
Invited by the conference, Prof. Zhang Aidong of University of Virginia, Prof. Zhou Shuigeng of Fudan University, Prof. Wang Yadong of Harbin Institute of Technology, Prof. Li Xia of Harbin Medical University, Prof. Dai Daoqing of Sun Yat-sen University, Associate Prof. Gao Xin of Saudi King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Professor and Vice President Yan Jianbing of Huazhong Agricultural University made special reports respectively on Cancer Prediction and Meta-learning, Causal Inference and Pathogenic Gene Detection, Biomedical Big Data Mining and Precision Medicine, Disease-oriented Data Analysis Integration Strategy, Genomic Analysis Method for Precision Medicine, Big Data-driven Corn Quantitative Genetics Research.
At the closing ceremony, Prof. Zhang Fa, Secretary General of CCF Bioinformatics Committee, made a comprehensive summary of the meeting and evaluated the high-quality conference work of the organizer, Northeast Forestry University. As the representative of the organizer, Prof. Yu Guoxian of Shandong University publicized and introduced the site of the next CCF Bioinformatics Conference.
