On November 24, the results of the 8th GlobalTranslationCompetition of "100Translators,100Translations" in 2020 were announced. Yang Shuo, an MTI studentin the class of 2019, won the first prize, while WuXuanke and Qi Na,students of the same major inthe class of2020, won the third prize.
The competitionwas jointly organized by theGlobalGroup Committee of the "100Translators,100Translations" ChineseCulturalSayingsCompetition and the Confucius Institute atthe Mona Campus of the University ofthe West Indies, who awarded the certificates together.The standard of thisChinese -English translation competition isfaithfulness, expressiveness, elegance and personal preference of the reviewers. The ranking of the competition isbased onthe votes of 6 native English speakers and 4 Chinese judges whose votes are rated as Excellent, Very Good and Good respectively. The first, second and third prizes are determined according to the number of votes won. The participants of this eventwere from nearly 100 well-known institutions of higher learning in the world, including Beijing Foreign Studies University,School ofForeignLanguages of Beijing Institute of Technology at Zhuhai, Dalian Jiaotong University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Leeds University and UC Santa Barbara.A total of eight first prizes were awarded, among which Yang Shuo waslisted.
