On December 20th, the National Finals of the 2020 “Uchallenge” came to an end. After many tryouts, 362 contestants stood out from the 520,000 contestants in China, showing their elegant demeanor colliding with their thinking on the three stages of speech, writing and reading. Yang Xinying, a 2018 student, who was directed byMs.Zhai Shu from College of Foreign Language of NEFU, won the second prize of the National English Writing Competition.

This year,NEFU hosted three competitions in Heilongjiang Province, and it is the only university in the province that hosted the finals of three competitions online. A total of 249 contestants from 37 colleges and universities in the province participated in the competition. As the organizer, the College of Foreign Language organized 3 semi-finals and finals, received 27 judges, filled in and mailed over 400 award certificates for students and instructors, and all the work was highly recognized and praised by theOrganizing Committee.

In this competition, the teachers and students of ouruniversity made careful preparations and promoted their studies through the competition, which effectively cultivated students’ “Chinese feelings” and “international vision”, helped students to tell Chinese stories well in foreign languages, spread Chinese culture, and establish cultural confidence, showing thecharm of college students with both native land emotion and global vision. In addition, the College of Foreign Language attaches great importance to the construction of the second classroom learning environment, and guides students to make more effective use of their English advantages to comprehensively observe the world and deeply understand multiculturalism and humanistic spirit. In recent years, the College of Foreign Language has made great achievements in various English competitions.
