Breaking the limitations of time and space, choosing the exhibition independently and manually, with a live voice guide, 720° full angle of view, and virtual environment experience, enabling you to feel the unique charm of the forest. On November 29th, the digital virtual exhibition hall of China (Harbin) Forest Museum located in Northeast Forestry University was officially launched, allowing visitors to visit the museum in the cloud, without leaving home.

China (Harbin) Forest Museum, as a national second-class museum and a national popular science base, has often been closed irregularly due to various factors such as the epidemic, and the popular science work was also affected. In order to better spread the concept of ecological civilization to the public and meet the people’s visiting needs as much as possible, the museum has brought forth new ideas, combined with advanced 3D image production, multimedia information technology, etc., and launched a digital virtual exhibition hall for vast audiences to visit online.

The digital exhibition hall adopts a high-resolution 3D scanning camera. By collecting indoor and outdoor panoramic data, it can cover all the exhibition items of the 13 unit exhibition halls on the second and third floors of the museum, including more than 30 indoor and outdoor 3D models and 24 animal interactive 3D models. Using 720°full-angle and 3D digital technology, advanced means such as voice navigation, 3D perspective, VR browsing, etc., it has built a virtual environment, guiding visitors to every corner of the hall, watching all kinds of exhibits, and getting a panoramic view of all the details. Among them, the live dubbing explanation allows the audience to acquire rich forest knowledge and information in a short time, which makes the hall more intimate and vivid, bringing the viewer a feeling of immersement.

Tian Hai, curator of the museum, said: “The digital exhibition hall was successfully launched, which provided rich experience and wonderful visual enjoyment for the audience, broke time and space restrictions, and better met the audience’s demand for visiting the museum during the closing period. Users only need to log in to the official website of China (Harbin) Forest Museum, and they can be immersed in the exhibition hall via cloud, and feel the same unique charm as the CFM entity exhibition hall.”
