Recently, the results of the 2021 National Undergraduate Mathematics Competition (Preliminary Competition) have been announced, and the NEFU contestants have achieved excellent results. A total of 684 students from the NEFU participated in the competition. Through careful preparation and fierce competition, 173 students won prizes. Among them, the non-mathematics major group won a total of 47 first prizes, 29 second prizes, and 50 third prizes. The mathematics major group won a total of 9 first prizes, 9 second prizes, and 29 third prizes. The winning students cover almost all the majors that offer mathematics courses in the NEFU. What is even more gratifying is that Yang Jiahui of the Information and Computational Science major and Zeng Chuanfeng from the Mathematics and Applied Mathematics major will be the representative of Heilongjiang Province to participate in the final of the National College Students Mathematics Competition held this year.

As a national high-level discipline competition for undergraduates, the National College Students Mathematical Competition sponsored by the Chinese Mathematical Society can not only stimulate the interest of undergraduates in learning mathematics, but also provide a stage for young students to demonstrate their basic mathematic skills and thinking. At the same time, it has also accumulated research material for discovering and selecting outstanding mathematics talents and further promoting the reform and development of mathematics curriculum construction in colleges and universities. Through this competition, a large number of outstanding talents with good mathematical thinking ability have been cultivated for the NEFU, which has effectively promoted the reform of the training mode on innovative talents in the teaching of mathematics courses of the NEFU and the improvement of the overall quality of education and teaching.
