On the afternoon of June 14, a signing ceremony was held in Conference Room 808 of the Comprehensive Building for the strategic framework and talent training agreement between our university and BGI. President Li Bin and CEO of BGI Yin Ye attended the signing ceremony. The main responsible persons of relevant functional departments and colleges of the university, and guests from sister units outside the university attended the signing ceremony. The meeting was chaired by Li Fengri, member of theNEFU Communist PartyStanding Committee and Vice President.

Li Bin briefly reviewed the scientific research cooperation between the two sidesover the past fewyears. Li Bin hoped thatboth partieswould take the signing of the strategic framework cooperation and talent training agreement as an opportunity to further explore the new model of flexible and diversified talent training, and jointly carry out the joint training of undergraduate and master’s degree students; make full use of the advantages of both sides to carry out more in-depth and all-round cooperation in biodiversity and carbon neutrality; use the soon to be established“Northeast Forestry University - BGI joint research centeron life sciences”to carry out joint research on key technologies and to promote the transformation and application of research results.

Yin Ye said that the cooperation between NEFU and the BGIGrouphas deep origins, and there are many excellent graduates working in BGIwhohavebecome very successful, and he appreciated the excellent talents cultivated by NEFU. Yin Ye congratulated the University on its upcoming 70th anniversary and hoped that the signing of the agreement would open a new chapter of friendly cooperation between NEFU and BGI.

The two sides also had an in-depth exchange on the direction of cooperation, cooperation content, talent training and other specific content. After the meeting, the two sides signed the strategic framework cooperation and talent training agreement, and gave each other souvenirs.

After the signing ceremony, Yin Ye gave a wonderful academic presentation to our students and teachers in the lecture hall of the Aulin Building with the title“The Beauty of Life Sciences”. After the presentation, Yin Ye and the participating teachers and students had an interactive exchange on relevant issues. The university presented a letter of appointment to Yin Ye as a scientific advisor.
