More than 1,000 students and faculty members attended The Youth Poetry Meeting to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Northeast Forestry University

On the afternoon of June 10, the final of the Youth Poetry Meeting, themed Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of NEFU and Welcome the 20th CPC National Congress, was held in the track-and-field ground. Chen Wenhui, NEFU’s Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee, attended the event and delivered a speech.

At the site, the recitation of students and faculty members revisited the past 70 years of school’s progress and they pledged to undertake the mission of generations. 10 teams used various forms of expression such as drama, music and dance to show the diligence and hard-working spirit of NEFU’s students. In the recitation, keywords like “People pulling the plow”, “Go to the dam”, “girl Xiujuan”, “Meet in NEFU”, “Youth China” etc expressed their sincere feelings for China. “Happy birthday to NEFU”, “If the young people are strong, the country will be strong!”, blessings and pledges pushed the Youth Poetry Meeting to the climax again and again. The echo of the recitation was impressing and it contained deep love for the Party, the Country and the University. Finally, after scoring, the work performed by School of Forestry, “Reminiscence of NEFU’s history -- SFers forging ahead” won the Grand Prize, while the work presented separately by College of Wildlife Resources and College of Foreign Languages, “An Youth Tribute Across a Century”, “An Ode to NEFU”, won the First Prize.

Chen Wenhui appreciated the wonderful performances of the students and faculty members and put forward three hopes to the young students. First, stay true to the original aspiration and founding mission; be young people with firm beliefs; stand on the high ground of ideals and convictions; set lofty goals at an early age; be more proud, confident, and assured in the identity as Chinese people through tempering both in thinking and practice so that the cause of the Party will be carried on from generation to generation. Second, foster the spirit of NEFU; be bold to scale great heights; inherit and carry forward the spirit of the old generations, and constantly enhance the sense of mission, responsibility and pride for being an NEFUer. Third, be determined to innovate and create; be an NEFUer to keep going forward; continually cultivate the sentiment, the character, the wisdom, and the responsibility; run with all the might on the track of youth.

During the event, a ceremony was held for newly developed League members to take the admission oath and old members to repledge their oaths.

Since the launch of the Youth Poetry Meeting in March, it has received positive response and enthusiastic participation from teachers and students. In the preliminary on June 9, more than 1,000 teachers and students from 16 colleges competed, and in the end, 10 teams were shortlisted for the final.
