On 17 August, the National Forestry and Grassland Science Explanation Competition, hosted by the Department of Science and Technology of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and organized by the Chinese Society of Forestry, was held online, and Liu Jiani, an interpreter of the China (Harbin) Forest Museum, won the third prize.
The popular science interpretation competition attracted 173 contestants from 123 units in 27 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across China. Through the pre-selection, 49 players were qualified for the final round. The theme of our school's lecturer Liu Jiani's lecture was "Replacing plastic with bamboo - helping double carbon", she started from the representative exhibit of China (Harbin) Forest Museum - "Giant Dragon Bamboo". She talked about the characteristics of bamboo and the current development of the bamboo products industry, and argued that "bamboo instead of plastic" is a new pursuit of a low-carbon lifestyle, calling on everyone to reduce plastic pollution, practice a low-carbon and green lifestyle, and advocating that everyone should contribute to global sustainable development.
The China (Harbin) Forest Museum took the competition as an opportunity to develop a new field of scientific interpretation, to be the messenger of green ecological science, to promote the popularization of scientific knowledge of forestry and grass, to enhance public ecological awareness and scientific literacy, and to build a beautiful China.
