On March 22, the University Competition Evaluation and Management System Research Group of the Chinese Association of Higher Education released the Analysis Report on the 2022 National College Student Competition. NEFU ranked first in the “TOP20 National Agricultural and Forestry Undergraduate Competition in 2018-2022” with a total score of 76.84 (with 789 awards), which is the fifth consecutive year that the university ranked first. Additionally, NEFU ranked 32nd in the “2022 National Competition for College Students (Undergraduate, TOP100)” (second place among universities in Heilongjiang Province), ranked 51st in the “2018-2022 National Competition for College Students (Undergraduate, TOP300)”, and 42nd among “Double First-class Construction” universities.
Since the Chinese Association of Higher Education launched the project “University Competition Evaluation and Management System Research” in February 2017, it has released seven rounds of the list. This is the first ranking that focuses on the cultivation of innovative talents in universities and the results of discipline competitions in China. It is an important reference to measure the quality of talent cultivation in universities.
Over the years, NEFU has attached great importance to innovation and entrepreneurship education, taking the reform of innovation and entrepreneurship education as an important starting point of the comprehensive reform of the university, combining professional education with innovation and entrepreneurship education, and integrating innovation and entrepreneurship education into the whole process of talent training. Through the implementation of incentive mechanisms, big innovation plans, innovation laboratory construction, teaching reform, competition cultivation and organizing various competitions, the colleges encourage interdisciplinarity with professional teachers and league organizations actively cooperating with each other, carrying out all-round innovative education and competitions with professional characteristics. In 2022, all departments and schools of the university made concerted efforts to promote new progress in innovation and entrepreneurship education. The educational effect of discipline competitions significantly improved. Students actively participated in the “Internet Plus”, “Challenge Cup”, “Blue Bridge Cup”, “FLTRP Guocai Cup”, “Times Golden Calf Award”, China Robot and Artificial Intelligence Competition, Mathematical Modeling for College Students and other discipline competitions, and achieved good rankings. At the same time, the university strengthened the construction of entrepreneurship and innovation courses and teaching materials, and carried out training for teachers, attracting more than 1,000 teachers and students from 92 universities across the country. The Cloud Training Camp for innovation and entrepreneurship was held, with more than 1,200 students participating in the training. The university also focuses on cultivating projects, providing 29 student innovation and entrepreneurship teams with “Pioneer Park one-stop business incubation service”; We held 16 sessions of “Entrepreneurship and Innovation Interview”, 8 sessions of “Innovation and Entrepreneurship in NEFU” and other brand activities, creating a strong atmosphere of innovation and entrepreneurship culture, and carefully selected examples and gave full play to their leading role. In 2022, 644 innovation and entrepreneurship training programs for college students have been approved. The University takes these programs as the basis for cultivating innovation and entrepreneurship talents, and is committed to expanding the influence of these programs and all kinds of innovation and entrepreneurship activities at all levels, guiding the teams from “programs” to “competitions”, continuously stimulating students' innovation and entrepreneurship vitality, and enhancing students' innovative spirit, entrepreneurial consciousness and creative ability.
The university will continue to cultivate the fertile “cultural soil” for innovation and education through competition, improve the quality of talent training, respect the initiative of students, optimize competition project management, build brand competitions, strengthen the cooperation among universities and promote their collaborative development, improve the service level of campus scientific and technological innovation, and enhance students’ innovation ability.
