In order to welcome the arrival of the 31st World Water Day and the 36th China Water Week, Northeast Forestry University, the Harbin Water Affairs Bureau and the Harbin National Society jointly held the 2023 themed calligraphy contest. On March 22, 2023, the outstanding calligraphy works from the contestants were presented in the lobby of the administration building.

The contest was started on March 8th. The organizing committee invited calligraphy lovers from all walks of life at home and abroad, who actively participated in the contest. Within 10 days, 206 entries were received from teachers, students, alumni and other calligraphy lovers. The eldest contestant is 87 years old, and the youngest contestant is only 6 years old.

The calligraphy works are of different styles and are related to the theme of saving water, expressing the contestants’ love for the great rivers and mountains, their expectation for the development of water-saving undertakings and their concern for the ecological environment, which played a great role in promoting World Water Day and China Water Week.

The works attracted the attention of many teachers and students. Through appreciating each work, their awareness of saving water has been enhanced.

This calligraphy contest is a practice to carry forward Chinese excellent traditional culture, raise people’s awareness of water protection, and advocate the concept of green life. The contest can help to build a harmonious modern society between man and nature and implement the spirit of the 20th Party Congress. It also highlights the public’s great concern for water conservation and promotes the development of environmental protection and cultural exchanges.
