A few days ago, the National Committee of the Chinese Trade Union of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports issued a document, which confirmed that the Heilongjiang Provincial Engineering and Technology Research Center of Chinese Ancient Furniture led by Professor Niu Xiaoting of our university was selected as a model worker and employee innovation studio in the national system of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports.
In 2023, the Chinese Trade Union of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports has decided to select 98 innovation studios as model worker and employee innovation studios in the national system of Education, Science, Culture, Health and Sports in order to further give play to the functions of innovation studios such as demonstration and leadership, pooling of wisdom and innovation, collaborative research, inheritance of skills and cultivation of the spirit, and to inspire the vast number of workers to be diligent in creating and brave in struggling. The studios launched by three universities in Heilongjiang Province have been selected. The 98 innovation studios were composed of 36 studios of education and research, 33 studios of medicine, 14 studios of science and technology innovation, 1 studio of radio and television, 1 studio of design, 1 studio of dance, 1 studio of heritage conservation, 3 studios of catering, and 8 studios of biology and ecology.
Relying on the advantageous platform of the world-class construction discipline of forestry engineering of Northeast Forestry University and under the guidance of Prof. Li Jian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Heilongjiang Provincial Engineering and Technology Research Center of Chinese Ancient Furniture closely combines the major technological needs in the field of furniture industry in China, inherits and carries forward the spirit of traditional Chinese craftsmanship, history and culture, and integrates the modernized industrial production system and the intelligent numerical control technology. Therefore, many fruitful scientific research and teaching results have been achieved in the fields of improvement of wood functionality, optimization of furniture surface finishing, optimization of adhesive performance, research on theories of traditional Chinese furniture making and development of new products, digitalization of mortise-and-tenon joints and innovation of design, dissemination and promotion of Chinese woodworking culture, cultivation of top-notch talents in the forestry engineering category, and training of innovative talents for furniture design in the new era. In particular, there are significant breakthroughs made in the fields of carbon storage and environmental effects of wood composites and environmentally friendly functional heat-treatment key technologies for wood manufacturing, remarkable results achieved in the cultivation of top-notch talents in the forestry engineering category and innovative talents for designing hardwood furniture of the national intangible cultural heritage, and extensive impact in the field of inheritance and dissemination of Chinese outstanding woodworking culture.
