On October 31, the 25th China International Education Conference, hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange, was held at the National Convention Center in Beijing. The list of 31 universities that passed the 2024 re-certification for higher education quality for international students in China was announced during the conference. NEFU successfully passed the re-certification, earning a six-year certification period. Wang Bo, the Dean of the School of International Education, represented the university and accepted the certification on-site.
The Quality Certification for Higher Education of International Students in China is an authoritative and professional quality assurance initiative guided by the Ministry of Education and implemented by the China Education Association for International Exchange. This certification is crucial in advancing the high-quality development of international student education in China. NEFU attaches great importance to this certification process. After successfully passing the initial certification as a pilot university in 2017, the university used feedback from the certification report to refine its strategies for international student education. This included enhancing the management of international students, promoting the development of complete English-language programs, and implementing measures to improve international student education.
In 2021, NEFU applied for re-certification and began preparations by establishing a leadership team for the re-certification process. Several specialized meetings were held to plan and assign tasks. To the requirements, the entire university coordinated to conduct a self-assessment and improvement process for the re-certification. From May 27 to 28, 2024, an expert group from the China Education Association for International Exchange conducted an on-site review of the university’s international student education through document reviews, classroom visits, and interviews.
Successfully passing the re-certification recognizes and motivates NEFU’s international student education and internationalization level. The university will continue implementing the Ministry of Education’s guidelines for international student education in China. By addressing the feedback and recommendations in the certification report, the university aims to further improve and enhance the “Study in NEFU” brand, support the development of the university’s Double First-Class initiative, and contribute to the high-quality development of international student education in China.
