Recently, Ben Watson (Chinese name Bai Wenlong), an American teacher in the School of Foreign Languages at Northeast Forestry University (NEFU), was interviewed by CGTN Radio for their program titled “In China.” The segment explored Mr. Watson's unique bond with NEFU, his 22 years of teaching there, and his life in Harbin. Reflecting on his experiences, he described northeastern China's strong local spirit and warmth, saying, “This is my home.”
In the interview, Mr. Watson shared memorable experiences interacting with students and colleagues at NEFU. The video highlighted his enjoyment of local specialties like di san xian (stir-fried potatoes, eggplant, and peppers), guo bao rou (sweet and sour pork), and Harbin red sausage—dishes he described as “incredibly tasty.” The warmth and hospitality of the people, along with the city’s impressive growth, left a lasting impression on him, deepening his affection for China and Harbin. Mr. Watson also expressed his excitement for the upcoming Asian Winter Games in Harbin.
