On the morning of June 17, Professor Daniel Reidenbach, Dean of the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences at Birkbeck, University of London (BBK), and his team visited Aulin College for a research and exchange session. Representatives from NEFU’s Hainan International College, Aulin College, the College of Science, and the Office of International Cooperation attended the meeting in Conference Room 609 of Aulin Building.

During the meeting, Liu Zhiming, Dean of Aulin College, provided an overview of the background of the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Programs between the two institutions, the progress of the current proposal, and the issues that still need to be addressed. Professor Daniel Reidenbach introduced the history of Birkbeck’s School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, its program offerings, and the training provided to students. He also offered additional details on the proposed professional fields for the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Programs. The two sides discussed the scope of cooperation, the alignment of their respective academic programs, and student training models in greater detail.
Professor An Yong, Executive Vice Dean of the Undergraduate School and Director of the Academic Affairs Operation Center, as well as Dean of the College of Science, discussed course alignment, graduation projects (theses), and future faculty exchanges with Professor Reidenbach. They reached a consensus on these issues.
Liu Zhiming concluded the meeting by emphasizing the importance of proactive coordination in aligning courses and facilitating cooperation among relevant departments to accelerate the development of collaborative academic programs and overseas learning centers. Professor Reidenbach reiterated his dedication to creating courses and training models tailored to the needs of NEFU students, thus establishing a strong foundation for the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Programs.
The meeting ended with both sides agreeing on the next steps and action plans, further advancing the progress of the proposed Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Programs.
